Nowadays more searches for all kinds of things are carried out on Youtube, in fact it's the second most used search engine after Google itself. Like Google, the number of items shown for a search such as 'blues guitar lessons' is formidable - how to search out the instruction that's best for you? Youtube guitar lessons feature all kinds of formats and instruction levels, both paid and for free.
Some of the big boys in guitar lesson sales have developed a really effective marketing style that employ many forms of psychological tricks to induce you to buy. Only a beginner? No problem - you'll be performing like a pro in 3 days. Intermediate player? We'll raise you to the next level. Experienced player? This course will transform you into a guitar God, and so it goes. One of my favorites is the advert we see everywhere 'The Three Major Mistakes That Most Guitarists Make", or something of that style, which is pretty difficult to resist, it it has to be said. Truth is, playing above average guitar means a lot of work, commitment and time. Naturally, the whole thing can be made quicker with clear-cut teaching and precise blues guitar tabs.
Guitar tablature is the back bone of the best guitar lessons. It needn't be super complicated at all, with just elementary notation indicating finger positions and chord diagrams. Some tab just goes too far, attempting to convey the feel and style of authentic blues playing, which just isn't possible! This brings us to the 2nd feature of excellent blues guitar lessons - the teacher should be able to play the stuff very well (and that tab should precisely indicate what he does.)
Guitar tablature itself just can't explain that delicate pause, or the thumb strike that is slightly behind the beat when needed to emphasize the singing. Of course, the tab can show that a single thumb strike should be muted or damped with the palm of the hand, but doesn't show that this damping movement itself is never constant, but changes in sound as the force of the palm on the strings is continuously being varied according to the style of the song.

This is a good observation. You don't need to spend a year for your search, but make your choice carefully and side-step all the hype. Don't expect to improve in two weeks, take it easy, don't beat yourself up and first and last, savor the music and the journey.
