by Carolina Walsh

Vintage records for sale on auction sites, garage sales, classified ads, flea markets and, of course, vintage record stores. Bigger metropolitan cities are likely to have one or two record stores that will purchase your LPs or sell you vinyl of your favorite band or singer.

Some people want to purchase vinyl for the cover art and others like to actually listen to the LP. Most people these days don't own turntables but there are still a few die-hard vinyl fans who prefer to listen their music the old-fashioned method.

Purchasing LPs for the cover art to be framed is very common for collectors or fans a specific group or artist. An early release of somebody now in their senior years is a good find for true collectors.

If you are purchasing the LP for the artwork, the condition of the vinyl itself isn't too important. However, it you plan to play the music on a turntable, you need to check the vinyl for scratches, spots, warping or any damage that will influence the sound of the music.

Some people sell their whole album collections at auctions sites online. You can purchase hundreds of records for low prices and maybe there will even be some valuable pieces in the lot. Other sellers list each album individually to gain the maximum profits.

Classified ads in newspapers, music magazines and online sites are filled with sellers trying to unload their entire record collections. Quite often they will list their entire collection and you will be able to determine if these are albums you want to purchase.

Online auction sites, garage sales, flea markets and record stores are wonderful places to find and purchase vintage albums. Checking the quality of the item is important if you plan to listen to it on a turntable but if you are framing the cover art it isn't mandatory that the vinyl be in good shape.
